In Randomized, Double-blind, controlled Trial conducted at the Common Cold  Centre in Cardiff University (United- Kingdom), Over a 4- month period. A total of 755 subjects were randomly allocated to receive Echinacea Purpurea extract or placebo

Nasal secretions were sampled at acute colds and screened for viruses throughout the whole study period 54 viral infections were detected in the Echinacea Purpurea extract treated group 54 viral infections were in the placebo group. The strongest effect was seen with membranous viruses, like  CORONA VIRUS .

Echinacea Purpurea extract inhibited virally confirmed colds and especially prevented enveloped virus infection (P<0.05) .

Echinacea Purpurea extract showed maximal effects on recurrent infections, and preventive effects increased with therapy compliance and adherence to the protocal.

SEKEM has published its annual report on sustainable development 2013 in May 2014, about 3 month earlier compared to the past years. The report is based again on the set of indicators, SEKEMs Department for Sustainable Development has created with international partners. Overall SEKEM achievement good results, especially in direct CO2-emission reduction, gasoline and water usage.
